Having had family pet dogs - (Beagle, Jack Russel, Dachshund, Border Collie) since early childhood, I developed a deep love and appreciation for the companionship, love and protection that they give so unconditionally.
I bought my first unregistered German Shepherd female - Julie - in my late teens (in 1976) and since then have never owned a different type of dog - they have qualities that are extra special to me compared to other breeds. I did my first obedience training with Julie, going through a steep learning curve.
Many years and GSD's later, in early 2012, I decided to spoil myself and buy a top quality registered German Shepherd female as a family pet - aiming to do obedience qualifications. At this time long coat German Shepherds were not favored by either the breeders nor the show community. I did not even know that there was a difference between long and short stock coats as I had never entered the show ring world.
I browsed the internet looking through breeding sites, found a male Olf von der Datz that, with my limited knowledge, I liked. I found a litter available by him at the Del Zualanwer kennels. They had one 7 week old female puppy available - Georgia Del Zualanwer - who I loved on sight. What a confident, bold puppy she was. I only discovered a few months down the line when I got the pedigree papers that she was a long coat. How lucky was I.
Did the puppy socialization with her and started obedience training at 8 months. Was advised by the breed supervisor at the club I went to that she was excellent and should be shown. The rest is history. Came first in all 24 shows she did. Junior Siegerin 2014. National SA Siegerin (VA1) 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017. Protection Awards 2014 and 2017. To date (July 2023) there has been only one other SA National VA1 long coat female - Georgie's daughter - Hakima von Etoshanne - who won twice - NBS VA1 2022 and NBS VA1 2023.
When I do litters, I carefully consider all aspects in order to produce a German Shepherd to be proud of. My puppies are sold to approved homes, where I know they will get the love and attention they deserve.
